Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his position following another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in twelve matches, marking the team's poorest streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from management,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and get a victory obviously but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the trust. But I've not talked to them since this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his team in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a phase such as this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones finished, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
