British tennis star Emma Raducanu ends the current season and will keep coach for 2026.
Raducanu reached the third round in three out of four major tournaments this year.
The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her remaining competitions this season due to a health issue that has affected her for the last week and a half.
At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to regain her health prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.
These plans will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as they will keep partnering for the upcoming season.
Raducanu underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match versus Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.
She again required medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.
She was also playing with clear difficulty in the final set versus Zhu due to a lower back issue that has been a concern during parts of the season.
Those results meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 after more than three years since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.
She held three match points prior to falling to Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.
The player achieved 28 matches during 2025 and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami event in March.
As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament before losing in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.
Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.
The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled late this year.
She mentioned that the trial session alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
She nearly succeeded to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.
The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage prior to losing to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
