One two-month cruise through Australia was terminated following the death of an elderly woman who was abandoned by the ship on a distant coastal location.

The passenger had been walking on the tropical location with other travelers from the vessel, but parted ways from the group for a break. The liner sailed away leaving her and came back later that day after the personnel became aware the passenger was unaccounted for.

A major search operation found her person the next day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the tragedy, in coordination with law enforcement and the state coroner.

Head of the voyage organizer stated that travelers and personnel on the vessel were informed that the remainder of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "tragic passing and prior mechanical issues".

Via official communication, he further stated that travelers would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to arrange the travel back of the travelers via private aircraft".

Officials also released an latest communication, and said they had "issued a directive to the Commander" banning any further travelers from entering the liner.

The representative said that they would visit the vessel in Cairns upon its return.

Sequence of Incidents

The vessel originally sailed from Cairns on 24 October, and was only 48 hours into the journey at the point of the senior passenger's demise. Lizard Island was the first stop on the voyage.

Passengers on the ship - who usually pay tens of thousands of currency to participate in the cruise - were ferried there for a day trip with the option of walking or snorkeling.

The offspring of the deceased woman said that her loved ones was "surprised and saddened that the ship left Lizard Island after an organised excursion without my parent".

Via her announcement, she described her parent as an "active octogenarian" who was a participant of a hiking organization.

"According to scant information we have been told, it seems that there was a breakdown of attention and ordinary reasoning," she mentioned.

She added that she desired the examination would be able to determine what "the organization should have performed that might have saved Mum's existence".

"According to reports from the investigators that it was a exceptionally warm afternoon, and mother became unwell on the hill climb," she stated.
