Jurgen Klopp states coming back to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.
Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Anfield in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club remains an option. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-season tenure featuring Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title in 30 years, has since taken on roles overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
The club claimed the Premier League under Arne Slot, though countless followers who adore the manager would embrace the idea that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he shared with his interviewer: “I stated I will never coach a different club within the country. So that means should it be the Reds...yeah. It's plausible.”
“I’m 58, so the choice could be mine down the line, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll simply watch what the future brings.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
When asked about which situations would need to occur to draw him back to the dugout, he confessed he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to interviews repeatedly each week or constant media duties each week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, yet sharing a meal with the players having a nice chat, I appreciate that. With many victories so there was often positive atmosphere at the club. I still have Van Dijk's laughter vividly recalled as an instance.”
Praise for His Successor
Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role for the adjustments which secured the championship last campaign. The team has suffered four in a row across various tournaments following significant transfers, though he denied the suggestion of it representing a slump.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, excellent performer. This is a well-built thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”
Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward
He shared movingly regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, whom he brought in during his tenure, and its impact on Liverpool. The forward died tragically in a road accident alongside his brother recently.
“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It’s not about his footballing ability, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the dressing room absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. A devastating blow for his teammates too. Not a single person will ever use it to justify results yet it's the reality. Being in that space which he filled completely. Handling this emotionally is difficult. Overwhelming.”
