Outrage as Renowned South African DJ Shot Dead in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a country battling rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was attacked in the city centre on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Police said the forty-year-old media personality was approached by a trio of assailants, with one shot at him before escaping on foot.
The motive of the shooting is unknown and no one has been arrested have been made, police said.
Details of the Attack
Authorities revealed that Stock was attacked as he was leaving a premises in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the building overseeing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unknown people, as per local media.
"It is alleged the victim was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," authorities confirmed.
Security camera video showed a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what looked like a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the incident.
Crucial forensic evidence, like spent shells, were discovered at the scene.

Authorities have requested eyewitnesses who may have have information to assist with the investigation.
"Our information indicates they covered significant ground after the attack, and officers have been following their trail to determine their whereabouts," added an official.
Family and Public Reaction
His family member, a close relative, said the loved ones are reeling to understand the tragedy.
"Words fail me. I cannot express the pain," were her words.
"It is clear he was a representative for countless citizens. He spoke out bravely about issues not many people were prepared to discuss. This is a devastating blow."
She urged the community to avoid sharing disturbing footage from the incident, explaining this was an extremely painful time, especially for Stock's three sons.

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that aired on a popular local TV network.
Apart from his role as a presenter, Stock was involved in various business ventures, including protective services, offering VIP protection services and managing safety for high-profile events across South Africa.
He was also understood to participate in building administration and participated in property reclaimations.
