The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Showdown Against defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Houston Astros securing the World Series in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their initial championship series after 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the American League Championship Series.

Behind by two runs, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh, propelling the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 victory in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the reigning title, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm just so happy for our team, Toronto, Canada," Springer stated, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now hit twenty-three October home runs, making him third in history after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another player in the world that I'd choose in that situation other than Springer with his October magic," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the sole team never to appear in a championship series.

Wilson said "without a doubt that it's painful" after his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts this season.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we finished on the losing end of the series," he remarked.

Toronto's team claimed the championship on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
