According to a fresh congressional report, the United Kingdom is without a adequate military strategy to protect itself and its overseas territories from possible military attacks.

In a highly critical assessment, the military oversight panel stated that the nation is "nowhere near" the required position to effectively secure itself and its coalition members, particularly during a time when military risks to the continent are "considerable".

However, after an 11-month examination, the military oversight panel warned that the UK and its European Nato allies were still too reliant on the US and were not spending adequate funds on their independent security.

"Moscow's violent attack of the neighboring nation, continuous disinformation campaigns, and ongoing breaches into European airspace mean that we should not permit to avoid confronting the truth," commented the panel head.

The board leader further stated that the panel had "frequently encountered concerns about the UK's ability to secure itself from attack".

The detailed suggestions contained a call for the government to expedite the rate of manufacturing transformation and make "alertness" a primary objective.

European nations' significant dependence on the US in essential domains such as "information gathering, orbital systems, military personnel movement and air-to-air refuelling" was also subject to critique in the assessment.

It observed that the nation had "almost nothing" when it came to coordinated air and missile defences, and referenced recent drones entering territorial skies across European nations as evidence of how modern innovations can threaten civilian populations in as well as military targets.

The government announced earlier this year that UK defence spending would grow to three percent of GDP by the target year at the latest.
