Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device

It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

The preview shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is why Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
